This Saturday 26 January, we’re joining the Reclaim the Night marches organised by Waltham Forest Women’s Network. The marches will meet at Walthamstow Town Square, where we’re speaking at the rally which begins 6pm until 7pm.

Among other speakers, Ariane Sacco from WinVisible will speak about violence against disabled women and girls, how we are more at risk of attack and domestic violence, the discrimination we face from the police, as well as courts, asylum system, agencies and services, and what we need to make us safer.

All that self-identify as women are welcome on the marches and all are welcome at the rally itself. There are longer or short marches, or go directly to Walthamstow Town Square for 6pm. Shops and cafes where you can buy a hot drink are nearby.

Thanks to Susan from East London Unite Community (ELUC) for inviting us. Info from ELUC:

Walthamstow march assembles from 4.30pm by Oxfam 2-4 High St E17, leading off at 5pm towards Walthamstow Town Square. (WinVisible contingent here, look for our yellow banner.)

Leyton march assembles from 4pm at Leyton Mills (opposite Leyton tube station) leading off at 4.15 to march to Walthamstow Town Square.

There are two shorter marches. One is at the corner of Lea Bridge Road and Bakers Arms (there are benches there for sisters that need to sit).

There is also an additional march that is much closer and is at the 97 bus stop in front of Barclays bank near Walthamstow Central station.

There will be XR drummers and another band and Andreena Leeanne will be reading poetry during the rally.

COVID precautions: Face masks to be worn and hand sanitiser to be carried — where possible.
